Wigan Live 2014 – Press Release
WIGAN LIVE FESTIVAL – 2014
Following 2013’s sensational debut of Wigan Live Festival – we are back this year with even more. This year we are proud to announce a free 2 day festival over 29th and 30th August 2014 – a real celebration of local music.
Head festival organiser Tim says “Last year, we made it happen with basically no budget – just an enthusiastic close knit team dedicated to bringing live music to Wigan. This year we have a bigger team and more budget – so it’s going to be absolutely amazing! – watch this space!”
The festival, sponsored by Static Records, will be held over 10 venues in the centre of Wigan and will feature up to 80 performances from local bands and artists covering most genres from rock, indie, blues, r&b, folk and even funk.
Friday night will see a huge warm up across most of the venues to prepare for Saturdays jam-packed day of live music .
Saturday will be a full line up with all 10+ venues involved – and a huge afterparty held until the early hours in the morning featuring some of the best djs in the North-West.
Day time headliners include: Chonkinfeckle, The Bedroom Hour, Wigan Ukulele Club, Rothwell, Reason to Lie and Sky Valley Mistress – plus many many more.
Evoss, a band who played last year, said “We’ve just played our best gig so far… It was so enjoyable, we didn’t want it to end. Thanks to everyone who came to see us.”
The organisers are hoping for a record turn-out this year and are hoping that the whole Wigan community will get involved.
This promises to be the big music event of the year for Wigan town centre – so get involved!
Wigan Live Festival – Official Afterparty at The Cube
After the main events of the day are over, we have an exclusive afterparty at The Cube.
