Why did you pick your band name? We were struggling to think of a name for our band for quite a few weeks! Eventually our bassist came up with the name, when he said ‘so what do we propose for a name?!…oh …hang on…The Proposal!’ Who writes the songs, what are they about? I (Lindz) write the songs at home on my guitar or keys and then bring them to practice – then then play them to the rest of the band and then they add all their parts – which really make the songs what they are. The band came about this way really – I had written loads of songs and roped the boys into playing…they all met each other for the first time ever at our first band practice – even though I knew them all individually from other bands and the pub! As you know, this a free festival – however every year we fundraise so that we can donate to a charity, and give back to the community. So we’re pleased to announce this year, any excess money raised from this year’s Wigan Live Festival will be given to local charity Derian House. Situated in the heart of Lancashire, Derian House is renowned throughout the region as being at the forefront of children’s palliative and respite care. Families who have a child with a life shortening condition can choose from a range of care and support services to meet their individual needs which include; short planned breaks in Derian House, Hospice at Home, sibling support group, end of life care and support at home, or in Derian House, and bereavement support after the death of a
Today marks the starts of Wigan Live Festival. 2 days of free music in Wigan Town Centre. The first brilliant music of the day will be at The Coven – starting at 2:30pm with The Ambition and then The Boulevard is open with music from 2:45pm Then towards 4pm we have a huge setlist of bands from both The Tudor going all the way into the night. Also at 4pm, there’ll be a smaller – but fantastic set from bands at The John Bull Chophouse At 5pm – The Officer’s Club will start the night there with a range of acoustic acts At 6:30pm (ish) Joe’s Bar opens up with a big start and Storm Lanterns. WIGAN LIVE FESTIVAL – 2014 Following 2013’s sensational debut of Wigan Live Festival – we are back this year with even more. This year we are proud to announce a free 2 day festival over 29th and 30th August 2014 – a real celebration of local music. Head festival organiser Tim says “Last year, we made it happen with basically no budget – just an enthusiastic close knit team dedicated to bringing live music to Wigan. Hi, first post of 2014! We’re already really busy planning for this summer’s Wigan Live Fest! So far so good! But we’re going to need a lot of bands and musicians to cover 10 venues over 2 days.
